Volunteer Gardening Project

GARDENING PROJECT PROPOSAL

South Beach Medical Centre are proposing to provide the opportunity for a Patient wellbeing group, to be managed and run by patients, and are looking for someone to take the lead on this who will arrange group meeting days and times and will liaise with the surgery about any equipment and supplies needed.

This will be an opportunity for a group of patients or local people to convene outdoors, to socialise and meet new people, and to learn about gardening or share knowledge of gardening with others.

We are looking for someone to set up and lead this group, to arrange the meeting days and times, liaise with the surgery manager for any equipment and supplies needed for gardening, and advise on numbers for the surgery to provide tea / coffee / cakes on the monthly meeting days – where the group can make use of the surgery meeting room on the last Friday of every month.

Once the group is established, we may be able to provide a small amount of funds so could potentially consider ideas for small projects or improvements in the future.

It will involve:

  • Weeding
  • Pruning of the established plants & bushes
  • Litter picking (with gloves, a picker tool and garden waste sack)
  • Summer maintenance of the fruit & veg boxes

All utensils including gardening gloves and knee pads will be provided.

We will add a lockable shed at the bike cage in the car park where equipment can be stored.

We propose that the group meets for gardening weekly or twice weekly and monthly in the surgery meeting room for tea, coffee & cake.

Please complete the form & register your interest. (***FORM TO FOLLOW SHORTLY***)
